MicroRNAs in Polycystic kidney disease

A microrna in PKD1, the gene most frequently mutated in polycystic kidney disease, is processed by a non-canonical microRNa processing pathway. processing of the microrna and PKD1 mRNA production may be mutually exclusive. This potential competition between two RNA processing events could have implications for polycystic kidney disease.
